Speak to a Financial Aid Counselor
Speak to a Financial Aid Counselor
Your Generations College financial aid counselor is here to ensure that the enrollment process is as smooth as possible for you — whether you are a new or returning student.
HELP UNDERSTANDING FINANCIAL AID AND COMPLETING THE FAFSA
The experienced counselors in the Financial Aid Office work closely with students, helping them navigate the process of applying for financial aid. You can discuss college credits with your counselor, who can help you understand whether your course load qualifies you for certain types of aid. Your counselor is available to work with you one on one to explain the steps involved in obtaining aid, which generally begin with filling out the Free Application for Student Aid (FAFSA).
ASSISTANCE IDENTIFYING APPLICABLE GRANTS AND SCHOLARSHIPS
In addition to working to determine what federal grants and loans you may qualify to receive based on the results of your FAFSA, your counselor can help you identify available Generations College scholarships, private scholarships and other specialized aid. Further, he or she will help you understand the steps needed to apply for such gifts. Unlike loans, scholarships do not need to be repaid. There are many scholarships offered each year for students — including general and specialized aid for students who are veterans, single parents and first-generation college students.
It can be overwhelming to try to locate and evaluate potential financial aid opportunities on your own, especially if you are unfamiliar with the process. No matter what financial aid questions you have or what your circumstances are, your financial aid counselor is a trusted resource who has likely worked with and helped other students in similar situations.
