Generations College has been an incredible turning point in my life – a life that has been particularly fraught with unavoidable hardship and trauma. Being awarded the full-ride single-parent scholarship opened doors I never thought possible. It was the first time I felt truly recognized for my potential, not as someone who needed to be held back, but as someone with the capacity to soar. These past semesters, I’ve maintained a 4.0 GPA, earned a place in the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, and become an active member of the National Association of Legal Assistants (NALA). Most importantly, I’ve been admitted to the University of Michigan for Fall 2024, where I’ll pursue a major in social work on a pre-law track.

Generations College has outstanding professors who have played a pivotal role in my transformation. Their unwavering support and encouragement have rekindled my passion for academia, instilling in me the confidence I needed to move forward. My goal is law school, with a specific focus on civil rights law, advocating for marginalized communities and those whose civil rights have been violated. I plan to begin my journey as a paralegal in a civil rights specialized law firm after graduation while continuing my education at the University of Michigan. My social work degree will equip me with the tools to understand the intricacies of human well-being, especially for vulnerable, oppressed, and impoverished individuals. This invaluable experience will set the foundation for my legal career, where I aim to be an attorney dedicated to civil rights and social justice. Generations College has been my launching pad for a brighter future, and I am deeply grateful for the transformation it has facilitated in my life.
